3g and GPRS
The application of 3G technology has made people accept that it is a stepping-stone as well as a lasting solution for wireless data. As the market is now surviving with the hype created by 3G mobile communications, other technologies (to name, General Packet Radio Service) is being poorly related to this particular technology. It is now at point of reassessment. For many operator executives, GPRS is the fundamental reason behind the expansion of the mobile market. It is increasingly looked upon as the bridge to communicate to 3G.
Unlike 3G, GPRS is a cost effective method that is used to run a new generation of mobile services. In fact, all the major mobile services have aligned themselves with GPRS. They have also absorbed them into their long-term strategies. But there is a controversy regarding the commercial viability of general packet radio service. This has taken place, because there is market anticipation about more consumers switching toward 3G thereby expanding Business 3G to a considerable level. The threat is evolving out of the tremendous fast applications of 3G.
However, the experts think that the appearance of new services is critical for both GPRS and 3G technology. They view, that the actual concern is with the where and what of the new services. In this context, it should be mentioned that
